JEFFERSON STARSHIP BLASTS OFF IN SOLVANG

Image
Friday night's Jefferson Starship concert at the Chumash Casino started with rocket-themed montage showing the history of the band from the 70's, 80's and beyond.   The band appeared on stage opening with Find Your Way Back.   Original member David Freiburg and 18-year veteran Kathy Richardson's soaring voices and vibrato harmonies glowed as brightly as the exhaust flames off a rocket.   It's hard to believe this band is now celebrating their 50th year and still just as stellar as ever! A svelte Kathy, poured into faux leather slacks, gave an energetic and youthful performance.  87 year-old David's voice seemed untouched by time as he sang the late Marty Balin's Runaway....and without a prompter, folks! It's a little-known fact that Donny Baldwin, drummer since the 80s, is responsible for the hit songs, Fooled Around and Fell in Love and yacht rock favorite, If Only You Believe.  These songs remind the listener of a time when long-haired guys stil...

Marshall Tucker Returns to The Central Coast

Image
October 7, 2025 Miossi Hall Performing Arts Center, San Luis Obispo Photos by Barry Sigman   Written by Gina Sigman Since its inception in 1972, Marshall Tucker has continued to bring their unique style of progressive country rock to the fans who love them.  Although the band has lost 4 of their original members, they are blessed to have the winsomely warm talents of Doug Gray with them.  Unfortunately, Doug was not able to make this leg of the tour due to recent health issues he is recovering from.  Nevertheless, the show did go on.  Lead guitarist Chris Hicks took the lead as frontman singer and performed all the songs in the style everyone's accustomed to.  Opening with Heard It in a Love Song, the band sounded just like they always do: like a breath of fresh South Carolina mountain air. Multitasking flute player Marcus Henderson was crisp and clean as always.  toggling between keyboard and flute.  Band members, Ryan Ware on bass, Ri...

Photos by Barry Sigman 70's band, Three Dog Night performed in concert in the Samala room at the Chumash casino in Santa Ynez California for a Friday night filled with music and memories.  The band, whose lyrics embody a time when people loved freely, talked face-to-face, danced and left politics to stogy-smoking Washington bureaucrats.  With 21 top 40 songs, there is bound to be at least one that is in the soundtrack of any baby boomer or gen Xer's life. Hey. For that matter, even a classic rock-savvy millennial knows a song or two.  Front man and original member, Danny Hutton showed a vitality on stage that surpasses performers half his age!  His sons, Timonthy on the bass and Dash on the drums, have become part of the Three Dog Night Hutton dynasty. Meet Our Staff

Image
Barry Sigman Photographer/ Chief Editor Barry's whirlwind photography career began with a daydream at a mom n pop BBQ restaurant in west Houston. It was there that he picked up a local music magazine called Best in Texas.  He said, "I'm gonna shoot for them." And shoot he did!  He travelled all over the city and parts of southwest Texas shooting "red dirt" Texas music artists.  Some of which became national such as Pat Green.  Soon, his reputation grew as a professional concert photographer and he branched off into hard news publications, shooting for Houston Chronicle and Houston Press.  As his photography circle grew bigger, he started his own website, All Access Music News. Since then, his credits and reputation have grown.  He has shot many national artists such as Kieth Urban, Loretta Lynn, Ronnie Dunn, Garth Brooks, Marshall Tucker, Jim Messina, Jefferson Starship, Foreigner, the Doobie Brothers and Stevie Wonder.  Then, in 2015, after reloc...
